Founded in 1425, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven is one of the oldest universities in Europe. It has about 37,000 students in 14 different faculties. All seven departments of the Faculty of Engineering are very research oriented and play an active role in many national and international fundamental and applied research projects. Yearly, several high-tech spin-off companies are created on the campus.
